Dr. Berk Gulmezoglu completed his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he was advised by Prof. Berk Sunar.
He focused on the security of cryptographic implementations and micro-architectural systems including Intel and ARM processors. To analyze the increasing variety of micro-architectural attacks and large amounts of data, he applied and developed several Deep Learning techniques. Furthermore, he conducted experiments on detecting state-of-the-art micro-architectural attacks such as Spectre, Meltdown, and Zombieload by implementing Deep Learning algorithms. He was the recipient of the Global Research Award from WPI in 2017. He focused on cache attacks in ARM devices at Fraunhofer AISEC, Munich. He also had an internship at VMware Security Group, where he analyzed the possibility of side-channel attacks in the cloud environment. (CV)
