Dr. Ahmed Kamal Memorial Fund
Based on the keen interest of family and friends of Dr. Ahmed Kamal (RIP), the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has established the Dr. Ahmed Kamal Memorial Fund, a lasting tribute to commemorate the extraordinary contributions made by Dr. Kamal to our department, university, the academic sphere, and his research field of Telecommunication. One of Dr. Kamal’s greatest passions was nurturing both graduate and undergraduate education.
During his time as DoGE, Dr. Kamal left an indelible mark on our department. He not only facilitated growth but also impacted the lives of countless students. Over the years, he mentored and guided more than 25 Ph.D. students, serving as their major professor. His commitment to the department in his role of ABET Committee Chair steered our department programs toward full accreditation through multiple accreditation cycles. Furthermore, he generously offered his expertise as an international program evaluator for ABET, further enhancing the quality of engineering education.
To ensure that Dr. Kamal’s legacy continues to inspire future generations, we are establishing the Dr. Ahmed Kamal Memorial Fund. This fund will be used to create graduate fellowships, providing vital support to aspiring engineers, and will also culminate in the establishment of the Ahmed Kamal Professorship. Our aspiration is to reach an endowment level of $1 million for these initiatives.
We humbly appeal to your generous spirit to contribute to this noble cause. By doing so, you will not only honor the memory of a remarkable individual but also make a tangible impact on the future of engineering education and research. Your support will perpetuate Dr. Ahmed Kamal’s legacy, ensuring that his dedication and passion for education continue to shine brightly in our department.
Please consider making a generous donation today to the Ahmed Kamal Memorial Fund. Together, we can reach our goal and celebrate the enduring influence of a remarkable academician.
Thank you for your kind consideration and support.
