Title: Long-Term Planning of Power Grids Under High-Renewable Futures
Abstract: Over the past two decades, the integration of renewable energy in power systems has increased. The intermittent nature of most renewable resources has necessitated the development of new planning and operation tools to account for such intermittency, along with other new technologies such as storage. This presentation will overview the efforts for developing state-of-the-art tools for long-term planning of power systems under high-renewable futures and the application of such tools on large-scale power system networks.
Bio: Dr. Ali Jahanbani Ardakani received his Ph.D. from McGill University, Montreal, Canada in 2014. He was a postdoctoral research associate at Iowa State University from 2015 to 2017. He has worked as a power system consultant for SNC-Lavalin on large offshore wind projects. He is currently a Research Scientist at Iowa State University.
