Room Assignment and Keys
When you begin your studies in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE), you will be assigned keys and/or access for your office space, office building outside doors, and the commonly used computer/research labs. All registered ECpE graduate students will automatically* get access to the exterior doors (via ISUCard) to Coover Hall; therefore, you will not need to request this access. Follow these steps to receive your room assignment, accesses and keys:
If you have a major professor:
- On or after the first day of the semester, speak with your major professor and determine which rooms you need access to and what room you are to request for your office space. Log in to the ECpE Key Access Database and request access to these rooms.
- It is imperative that you include the following information in the Comments field before you submit your request:
- Name of major professor/advisor
- Degree sought (MS, MEng, PhD)
- On-campus or Off-campus
- Anticipated date of graduation (this can be a complete guess at this point)
- There is an FAQ available in the database for questions you may have on using the system.
- If your office will be in Durham Center, you also will need to request access in the ECpE Key Access Database to the following:
- Durham Elevator 6AA Key (6AA)
- Durham Third Floor key (L2BC6)
- Durham Exterior Card Access
If you do not have a major professor:
- On or after the first day of the semester, log in to the ECpE Key Access Database and request access to 3209 Coover Hall.
- It is imperative that you include the following information in the Comments field before you submit your request:
- Degree sought (MS, MEng, PhD)
- On-campus or Off-campus
- Anticipated date of graduation (this can be a complete guess at this point)
- There is an FAQ available in the database for questions you may have on using the system.
*If you arrive at ISU for your first semester more than 10 days after the start of a semester, you will need to request exterior access to Coover Hall (Coover Exterior Card Access). This is the only time you will need to request access while you are an actively enrolled student.
