Speaker: Kerri Johannsen, Energy Program Director with the Iowa Environmental Council
Title: Policies to Drive Iowa’s Clean Energy Future
Bio: Kerri Johannsen is Energy Program Director with the Iowa Environmental Council. She has over a decade of experience in energy policy, including serving as energy staff with the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee during development of the 2008 Farm Bill, administering the Iowa Power Fund for innovative clean energy projects, and working as an analyst and legislative liaison with the Iowa Utilities Board for six years. Johannsen joined the Council in 2016 as Manager of Government Affairs, overseeing state-level legislative strategy, and in June of 2018 moved into the Energy Program Director position. In 2018, she was awarded the State Partnership Award by the Iowa Community Action Association for her work on energy efficiency and named to the Midwest Energy News 40 Under 40 of emerging clean energy leaders. Johannsen grew up on her family’s farm in Northeast Iowa and now makes her home in Des Moines with her husband Dan and son Milo. Johannsen has a B.A. in Political Science from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Masters in Public Policy from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.
