Policies and Procedures
General
- You are required to access the course home page and WebCT for relevant and timely information throughout the term.
- Class attendance is required.
- Take responsibility for your own learning, learn with others and learn by doing, and be active in the course.
- There will be several opportunities and means for improving course quality during the term.
- Email is an effective way to communicate with the instructor.
Overall Goals
- Take advantage of the opportunity to learn and meet your responsibilities.
- Think critically about topics to gain insights.
- Understand how to apply modern tools and techniques.
- Improve skills for working effectively with others (e.g. describe what you know to others, ask others to share their knowledge and insights with you).
- Actively reflect on your learning in the course and the overall functioning of the course.
- Actively process the group work.
Grading
- Grading will be based on class participation (5%),
homework assignments (30%), quizzes (15%), a final project (30%), and a final exam
(20%). Zero credit will be
given for late submissions without the prior express consent
of the instructor.
- Collaboration is encouraged with
regards to interpreting assignments and in developing an
understanding of the software tools we will be
using. However, all written solutions must be a student's
original work.
- Cheating is a very serious offense
and will not be tolerated in this class. If you are unsure
about what constitutes cheating it is suggested you read the
university policies on academic dishonesty
or contact the instructor directly.
- If you have a disability that
